Washington West

A Crescent village development

As Downtown Greenville has grown and prospered, our workforce housing has dwindled and affordable entrepreneurial spaces have become scarce. Washington West offers a unique community, providing a wide range of affordable homes and entrepreneurial opportunities in an exciting new village setting.

“From day one, our goal has been to create a new model…making it easier for our development community to provide affordable homes and workplaces.”

“Our neighbors wanted more than just housing. So, we’ve worked hard to create a real village…a place where folks can live and work and build community…with easy access to many destinations by bike, by bus, or on foot.”

Washington West is clustered around shared courtyards and a village green, providing a variety of gathering spaces for residents, entrepreneurs, and neighbors. Just a short walk from the Swamp Rabbit Trail, this small village offers easy access to Main Street by bike or on foot. A bus stop on the village green provides a convenient public transit option, adding to the ease and affordability of living and working at Washington West.

“I’ve been a part of the Southernside Neighborhood for ten years and have lived in Greenville all of my adult life. It is exciting to partner with my city and my neighborhood to help transform a community vision into reality.”

Location

Washington West is nestled in the Southernside Neighborhood of Greenville, South Carolina, a scenic, historic district with easy access to the new Unity Park, the Swamp Rabbit Trail, and downtown Greenville’s museums, shops, and cafes. Nearby mountains offer an exciting array of hiking, cycling, kayaking, and other outdoor activities.

“we are concerned about gentrification, so we have built in safeguards to keep our homes affordable for decades to come.”

WW Project Summary.jpg

Affordable homes and entrepreneurial spaces in Washington West are equity capped to prevent investors from flipping our properties for a quick profit. This means property owners will be restricted to a 3% profit per year until 2040 in return for the opportunity to purchase a home or workplace at below the current market rate.
